Devolution Deal 3 – Trade and Investment
We look forward to welcoming 20 of the region’s leaders for this invitation only roundtable to consider some of the key questions associated with the proposed transfer of new powers over trade and investment to the region, how to attract greater inward investment and increase broader regional trade.
This is the first roundtable that we will have hosted as a think tank and we look forward to inviting members from across our network to future such events across our areas of interest.
Questions we intend to explore:
- What does the West Midlands mean to an international audience? Is it an identity that resonates (or could resonate) with a global audience?
- From your experience, what are the most important factors behind decisions you may have taken to relocate or invest in either other parts of the UK or internationally?
- With so much belief in the untapped potential of the region, what do you think our political, economic and social priorities should be in the immediate and medium term?
- Personal responsibility and leadership forms a key part of what happens next, are there clear means for each of us to do that? Do we need more guidance to know how to focus our desire to support the region’s growth story?
The group’s conversations will be written up into a formal report that we intend to share with interested parties and decision makers to help inform negotiations for Devo Deal 3.
