Lewis Walker is a Chef, Lecturer, Culinary Arts Professional, and is the Deputy Head of the Birmingham College of Food at University College Birmingham. With an obsessive passion for all things food, his role enables him to support, develop, grow, and promote the incredible talent that is harboured in the City, and facilitate growth within the Hospitality and Food sectors.
Additional professional roles within his portfolio include supporting the Birmingham Food System Strategy alongside colleagues at University College Birmingham and the Department of Public Health; facilitating growth with the West Midlands Hospitality Taskforce to encourage training, recruitment, and retention across the Region; and working closely with key skills and qualification providers, as well as employers and businesses within the City, to facilitate shaping the future of the Hospitality industry and to promote the Midlands as a thriving, diverse, economically buoyant, and culturally significant region.
Not an indigenous Brummie, he has enjoyed living across the area from Edgbaston to Bearwood, Harborne to Northfield, Wythall to Balsall Common, and now lives in Solihull with his family, and is thrilled to now be representing People and Skills, as well as the Food and Hospitality Sectors, on the Leadership Board of the Centre for the New Midlands, and hopes this role and opportunity will enable him to network in so many of like-minded professionals, education providers, and foodies and help to grow an exciting, vibrant, and sustainable future for the region.
